Butter slide
butter slide is not a very special trick or maybe not even a trick. But this helps you to practice to cut into a wave for a jump because you will be doing the same technique as you would when cutting in.
This is also just for fun because what you will be doing is going on the outside of the boat while it turns. So that you will be going very fast while the boat turns. What you will have to do is when it starts to turn cut very hard towards the side of the boat. I will recommend to do it so that you ride on the outside heelside because starting with toeside is not for beginners.
As I am doing in the picture bend your knees far down, you will feel when you need to bend more or less. Also lean back quite far bringing your toes more out of the water making you turn more sharply.
180
This is probably the first trick you will learn when you have mastered the jumping. I would recommend you start with a front side 180 this where you will always be looking forward while performing the 180 this is much safer to start with because you will always see where you are going and landing.
I will explain this as if you would ride with your left foot forward if you ride right foot forward it's the opposite
You will first of all just cut into the wave and when you pop off the wave and turn your body left backwards. You should also turn your board with your legs but your turning your body as well will help it along as well.
When you start to turn let go with your left hand so that when you land your hands will not be holding onto the line awkwardly.
also I would recommend that you practice riding with your wrong foot in front because you will be landing this way and it very difficult to ride switch especially if you need to land with wrong foot forward.
Switch
Switch is also not really a trick but this will come in handy when doing new tricks over the wake.
Because if you do twist tricks, such as the 180 or 540, you will land with your wrong foot forward. So you can use the switch so that you cut into the wave wrong foot forwards but land with your good foot forward.
I will write this again as if you ride with left foot forward so if you ride right foot forward do the opposite.
On the water you will be turning your board 180 degrees to the left so that you will in the end ride wrong foot forward. So when riding just try to turn your board to the left and make it so you end with your right foot forward. I would recommend just trying it once to see if it's easy for you to turn the board. When you try it and you see that it is possible, when turning remember to stay straight and keep your line down if you pull it towards you, you will instantly lean backwards as well and fall.
